Kushi was a cute female pug that lived in the town of Ponnamaravathy. Kushi was a happy, outgoing puppy that made everyone she came into contact with smile. Her family was devoted to her, and she was the centre of attention wherever she went thanks to her outgoing attitude.
When Kushi was told she had kidney stones that couldn't be treated, her life, however, took an unexpected turn. She was in great agony and discomfort as a result of the disease, which made it challenging for her to engage in her typical amusing pastimes. The news saddened Kushi's family, who sought the best veterinary treatment for her. Sadly, despite their best efforts, the kidney stones were resistant to all forms of treatment.
Kushi remained strong and motivated despite her predicament. She made the decision to use her difficulties as a platform for a higher purpose rather than allowing her suffering to define who she was. Inspired by her spirit, Kushi's family made the decision to turn her narrative into something uplifting that could support other people who were having a hard time.
The "Hermes 2022" mini-marathon event was being prepared for in the town of Ponnamaravathy. It was a huge event that drew thousands of people from many backgrounds. The family of Kushi recognised a chance to raise awareness for a topic that is near and dear to their hearts: suicide prevention.
They got in touch with the marathon's planners and suggested Kushi as the Official Mascot. They shared Kushi's story of resilience and her unwavering determination to spread hope. The organizers were deeply moved and recognized the potential impact Kushi could have on raising awareness.
Kushi became "Hermes 2022"'s mascot and stood for tenacity and strength on October 2, 2022. Her narrative was disseminated via social media, news organisations, and neighbourhood groups. People were moved by Kushi's bravery and her family's dedication to using their adversity for good.
Thousands of runners showed up at the starting line on the day of the marathon carrying shirts bearing Kushi's image and the phrase "Say No to Suicide." The amount of sympathy and the quantity of individuals who had been moved by Kushi's story left Kushi's family speechless.
Kushi's family set up a booth at the finish line for the occasion, where the adorable Kushi took pictures with attendees.
Despite her health issues, Kushi went to the event with her family, her tail bouncing and her eyes sparkling with anticipation. People formed a queue to meet her, get their picture taken with her, and tell her about their own struggles with hardship. Everyone in the room was given hope and motivation by Kushi, who showed them that there is always a reason to keep going in the face of difficulties.
Each of the more than 5,000 participants in Hermes 2022 carried a small part of Kushi's message of optimism. Numerous others who heard Kushi's narrative and found comfort and inspiration in her journey did so much beyond the marathon.
As the months passed, Kushi's tale persisted in motivating others. She became an enduring representation of tenacity, inspiring people to treasure each moment and turn to others for support when they are struggling. Her legacy endured, and Ponnamaravathy will never forget the pug who transformed lives and raised consciousness about the value of helping one another.
On December 24,2022, untreatable kidney stones claimed Kushi's life. Her unwavering spirit and her family's perseverance made her story a source of inspiration for everyone.
